Let Us Be In Prayer Together MIV

Dear Friends:

I know we are living in anxious times. We do not know what is going to happen moment to moment, and this virus is really beyond human control. But God... God is still in control and God is working for our good at all times. God can bring light and peace in the most difficult of situations.

However, so that we can be in community and model community, I would ask us to take time each day to pray together three times each day. So, let us do it in this way.

1 - In the morning, let us pray the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples.

Near the end of the Lord's Prayer, let us add a line: lead us not into temptation, deliver us from evil, ...bring an end to this virus and heal your people in this world. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen

2 - At lunchtime, pick a hymn and pray through it.

Suggestions include:

·    My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
·    I Need Thee Every
·    Take Tine to Be Holy
·    Blessed Assurance
·    Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
·    O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
·    Turn Your Eyes up Jesus
·    Just a Closer Walk With Thee
·    Days of Elijah
·    Lord I Lift Your Name on High
·    Heal us Hand of Jesus

Or any other hymn that speaks to you at this difficult time.

3 - At dinnertime please join me and the community in the MIV District by praying with us the Covenant Prayer in the Wesleyan Tradition

Wesley Covenant Prayer

I am no longer my own, but thine.
Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee,
exalted for thee or brought low by thee.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things
to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. Amen.

Please know that I am praying for each of you and your families and churches.

May God’s peace and rest abide in our hearts and minds,

Jocelyn
